What is AWANA?

AWANA is a world-wide nonprofit ministry focused on providing Bible-based evangelism and discipleship solutions for ages 2-18. As the global leader in child and youth discipleship, Awana gives children the opportunity to know, love and serve Jesus, no matter their background.

RBC AWANA has an on-going club for children ages 3 years through 6th grade. Programs for 7th-12th graders are considered upon request. Contact us if you are interested.

What does AWANA stand for?

2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”  This is the key verse that created the acronym AWANA: Approved Workmen/Workers Are Not Ashamed.

How does AWANA work?

At RBC we meet most Wednesdays throughout the school year from 6:15pm-8:00pm. The night is broken up into 3 segments: Games, Story, and Handbook time.  Games have a unique circle, allowing for 4 teams to compete. The stories are Bible-based to encourage individual growth in our relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Each clubber earns the privilege to purchase a handbook from which they memorize Bible verses, being rewarded with patches to display on their uniform.

Bible Memorization

Each clubber is encouraged to work on memorizing verses from their handbook at home each week, being prepared to quote at club on Wednesday night to their leader.  We believe that memorizing God’s Word is the key to developing a deeper relationship with God and knowing how to live a Godly Christian life on a daily basis.

What are the AWANA levels?

  • Cubbies: Ages 3 - Preschool age
  • Sparks: Kindergarten - 2nd grade
  • Truth & Training: 3rd - 6th grade

  • Book Cost: $12
  • Uniforms:
    • $15 (Cubbies & Sparks)

Annual AWANA Events

Grand Prix

Each winter, we have an AWANA Grand Prix (Pine Wood Derby Races).  This is open to all clubbers as well as anyone else in the church who would like to participate.  There are 2 categories for trophies the day of the race, Clubbers and Everyone Else.  Trophies are awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd for Speed and Design.

AWANA Games

The AWANA Games are held annually for clubs around the area to compete against each other.

Bible Quizzing

Bible quizzing is held annually for clubbers to compete against other local clubbers.  The questions are based off verses and content from their handbooks.
